Highbrow & Low key Cocktail Party

Updated: Oct 10, 2021

We're getting back in the swing of things at Flair. Like many of you, throughout the pandemic we heard "let's get together when this is all over." And that's what we're doing.

With a few more parties on the horizon I want to make each gathering special without a lot of stress. I've put together 3 menus that are easy to do. They all include some homemade items and store bought things. I believe whether it's about decorating, flowers or food, always mix some luxury type items with the common. For example, one of my favorite menus is assorted cheeses and crackers, with hummus, olives, pickles and something sweet. I buy assorted flavors of hummus from Trader Joe's and serve it with colorful heirloom carrots and watermelon radishes. The cheeses will be very elegant selections, served with assorted crackers from....you guessed it, Trader Joe's. And everything is served on beautiful dishes. The dishes make it feel elevated and elegant, and having the interplay of couture and common menu items reduces the stress of preparation but with wonderful tasting food.

Desserts were fresh strawberries sprinkled with organic sugar along with citrus mousse cakes from Trader Joe's.

I think the evening's cocktail sums up couture and common. A lazy man's screwdriver: no one want's to squeeze orange juice. I use Sanpellegrino blood orange soda and vodka for these wonderful, light and refreshing cocktails.

Now that you know one of my best secrets to entertaining with Flair, it should reduce a lot of stress for you.

Go throw a wonderful party with lots of Flair.
